DFSME Board Member PJ Simon was recognized with the 2018 Stand Up for STEM Award by Million Women Mentors – Delaware (MWM-DE). Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long, Honorary Chair of MWM-DE, presented the award to PJ on May 2, 2018 at the STEM Symposium and Teacher Awards. PJ is dedicated to inspiring teachers, young people in the community, and especially young women to explore the excitement of science and to follow careers in STEM.

Million Women Mentors® is a national movement that supports the engagement of millions of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) mentors (both male and female) to increase the interest and confidence of girls and young women to enter, persist and succeed in STEM programs and careers.
