Thanks to Dr. Randy Guschl for Your Dedicated Service!

The Delaware Foundation for Science and Mathematics Education announces that Dr. Randy Guschl has stepped down from his role as Executive Director. Through Randy’s leadership, DFSME established a strong community of STEM education supporters. DFSME’s Board of Directors is grateful for his many significant contributions.

Randy used his leadership to share his convictions around the great importance of STEM education. He championed efforts such as Next Generation Science Standards, bringing widespread improvement to all Delaware classrooms. He recognized the importance of programming and events for girls in STEM, establishing Million Women Mentors in Delaware with their flagship program for middle school girls, Engineering Your Tomorrow.

Randy encouraged the growth of the Sussex County STEM Alliance. He created space in DFSME to support the Governor’s STEM Council, a partnership that continues through the annual STEM Educator Awards. He created the Shining Light Award to recognize STEM educators monthly in the most accessible fashion: directly in their classrooms. Through these efforts and more, Randy used his passion for STEM education to strengthen Delaware’s STEM ecosystem, creating widespread yet personal alliances with organizations, businesses, educators, and community members.

As part of DFSME’s governance updates, the Executive Director position has been phased out in favor of a leadership team structure. Our newly-formed Executive Leadership Team is committed to providing operational stability and continued growth for DFSME’s educator support programs and partnerships. The team members include President Jon Manon, Vice President Michelle Kutch, Treasurer JB Hersch, and Development Officer Em McKeever. The leadership team will build on the momentum generated by Randy’s 12 years of service, enabling educators to inspire the students of today for the workforce of tomorrow.

The Board of Directors is grateful for the guidance and friendship of Randy Guschl, and we wish Randy continued success in his future endeavors.

We look forward to another 30 years of supporting and celebrating STEM educators in Delaware.
